Marco Materazzi has broken the silence and finally revealed what he said to Zinedine Zidane before he was headbutted during the 2006 World Cup final.
He said: “I was tugging his shirt, he said to me ‘if you want my shirt so much I’ll give it to you afterwards,’ I answered that I’d prefer his sister.”
Materazzi added: “It’s not a particularly nice thing to say, I recognise that. But loads of players say worse things.
“I didn’t even know he had a sister before all this happened.”
Zidane had never publicly revealed what was said, but maintained that it was very personal and involved his mother and his sister. He has also refused to apologize to Materazzi for his actions.

Unhappy with the official FIFA logo for the 2010 World Cup, which has been likened to a frog jumping over a pork chop, Russian ad agency Park decided to go and create an alternate one. In their mission statement Park explains,
FIFA World Cup is the most important sport event for the mankind. The championship is not only sports action. It’s a significant cultural event, a worldwide festival. Each country represents a wonderful performance. It is a performance where each player acts the important role. Someone’s artful as a snake or strong as an elephant, and someone embodies speed, power and stamina like leopard - the symbol of Southern Africa. This animal has inspired PARK to create a new identity of the FIFA World Cup 2010.
It’s unclear what exactly Park’s true intentions are — other than the obvious viral marketing benefits.

Soccer Football fans haven’t been the only ones that were pumped up about the World Cup. All around Germany, and in Berlin particularly, prostitutes have been eagerly awaiting the sudden burst in the sex trade that many felt the tens of thousands of visitors would fuel. However, it’s being reported that the tournament has generated nowhere near the surge in demand for prostitution that many experts predicted.
Wait, there are experts?!

The world’s largest sporting event is being leveraged by mobile carriers to get people interested in watching TV on their phones. It is also being seen as a way for those same carriers to test the limits of their networks and see just how well they can cope with the expected demand. Analyst firm Informa predicts that up to $300m in revenue will come from fans downloading and watching clips on mobile phones.
Just remember, though, that not everyone likes the World Cup, or at least that’s what ChannelTwo is banking on.
