She's no Trump

I don’t know what was worse, her 5 minute spiel about how great she is, “overnight I became America’s first female self-made billionaire,” the completely fake office setting she walked into in the beginning, “I love that, don’t you,” her total lack of camera presence, the fact that she ends the episode writing a letter to the loser individual who just doesn’t fit in, or the goofy gaggle of go getters (not that the last bunch of Apprentice wannabes were the pick of the litter). Whatever the case, watching the show was kind of like watching a train wreck, I just couldn’t turn away; and next week, I probably won’t be able to turn away either. But this is for certain, Martha Stewart is no Donald Trump. Oh and don’t forget, it’s a “conference room” and not a “boardroom,” ’cause they do things differently at Martha Stewart Living.

At the very least, it will uncover some worthy Marthas-in-training: perfectionists who just might understand how hard it is to be Martha, just how much effort is required to craft a Good Thing.

NBC has repeatedly intimated that Martha’s “Apprentice” will be notably different from The Donald’s. Martha ditched the boardroom concept, and an entire wave of speculation has been unleashed on her options for dismissing the unlucky loser at the end of each episode.

My favorite Martha line, “You have to encourage human beings, at an early age, to read and learn.” Umm, yeah…

You just don't fit in

Martha Stewart has found her catch phrase, and it pales by comparison to The Donald’s “You’re fired!”

Stewart will send a contestant packing on the first episode of her version of The Apprentice by substituting Donald Trump’s brutal yet catchy “You’re fired!” with the brutal yet high schoolish “You just don’t fit in.”

Whoever came up with that one should be fired. I’m sorry, you just don’t fit in … LOSER! There, that’s a million times better already.

Searching for real in reality TV

Two contestants on Martha Stewart’s new show, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, have been found to have questionable relationships. Contestant Dawna Stone was a former co-worker and classmate of Kelly Perdew, winner of The Apprentice: Season 2. It was also revealed that contestant Bethenny Frankel had romantic relations with the son of Charles Koppelman, the chairman of Martha’s company, who will also be a judge on the show.

“Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett conceded yesterday in an interview with The Post that Perdew recommended Stone — but that he had pushed her for the Trump edition of the show.

Burnett said he was unaware of the connection between Perdew and Stone — who is now a magazine publisher — until after he and Stewart picked her for the Martha edition.

“I certainly had no idea,” said Burnett. “I wouldn’t know who recommended anybody.”

So much for the so-called open casting call.

Martha Stewart, “You’re Fired!”

Looks like Martha is venturing into the realm of reality TV. She has announced she will starring in an Apprentice wanna-be:

Hollywood Reporter

NEW YORK - There won’t be any “You’re fired” death knells sounded when Martha Stewart takes the reins of “The Apprentice” this fall.

The domestic doyenne will find her own way in her own reality series — but she won’t say what it is yet.

The show will spotlight Stewart’s working life and her attempts to find an aide through the TV process pioneered by Donald Trump through two seasons on NBC.
