Jeanine Pirro likes monkeys

Jeanine Pirro is doing everything seemingly possible to gain media attention, but it’s yet to be determined whether or not it’s on purpose. Last week Jeanine’s new campaign website generated media buzz when it featured a picture of her and a monkey, but failed to produce any pictures of the candidate for U.S. Senate and her “trouble plagued” husband. More recently, attention has been drawn to the fact that she makes current reference to an individual who passed away four years ago.

…it also displays a photo of Pirro with “Lou Rudin” and describes him as the “chairman of the Association for a Better New York.” Trouble is, Lew Rudin, the famed civic benefactor and one of the founders of ABNY back in 1991, hasn’t headed the group in some time — because he died in 2001. “It’s another example of the screw-ups that have now come to define the Pirro campaign,” a disgusted GOP activist told Post State Editor Fredric U. Dicker. The errors were corrected late yesterday afternoon — but only after The Post notified Pirro spokesman Michael McKeon that Rudin had passed away.

32 seconds of silence

“Does anyone have page 10?” That phrase will probably haunt Jeanine Pirro for quite some time. With a humiliating humbling 32 second pause in the middle of her speech, Pirro officially announced her candidacy against Hillary Clinton.

Crooks and Liars posted a video of the upcoming ad, “Without a script, she’s speechless.”

I guess, on the one hand, she has generated quite a bit of press for herself, and is probably as close to being a household name as you can get this early in the game…

Pirro comes out swinging

Jeanine Pirro has kicked off her senate campaign with a bang, attacking current incumbent Hillary Clinton while challenging her not to “stoop to negative character assassination.”

But as a new candidate for statewide office, Ms. Pirro drew scrutiny for some gaffes and judgment calls as well. She paused awkwardly for 32 seconds while reading her kickoff speech, a moment shown live on NY1 News, as she searched for a page of text, finally asking an aide, “Could I have Page 10?” And the campaign’s decision to keep her husband, Albert, away from the announcements only seemed to invite questions.

Seems like a shakey start at best, but then again, we all have our bad days, look at Bush…

Pirro challenges Clinton

Jeanine Pirro
announces that she will be running for senate.

Jeanine F. Pirro, a moderate Republican and high-profile district attorney of Westchester County, said today that she would challenge Hillary Rodham Clinton for her United States Senate seat in 2006.

“I am running against Hillary Clinton because New York State deserves a senator who will give her all to the people of New York for a full term, who will not miss votes to campaign in (presidential) primaries,” Ms. Pirro said in a statement.

“When Mrs. Clinton first came to us and said she wanted to be a New Yorker, she asked New York to put out a welcome mat and we did,” Ms. Pirro added. “But now she wants us to re-elect her even though she won’t promise to serve out her term and wants to use us as a springboard to the presidency. She’s asking us to become her doormat. I believe we deserve better.”
