Intel is offering designers and manufactures a chance to win $1 million in prizes to create the sexiest alternative to the traditional big beige box. Stating what Apple realized ages ago, Eric Kim, VP of Intel’s Digial Home Group, said, Consumers today make home PC purchase decisions based on more than just price and features; they also consider the size, shape and style.

The only catch to the contest, all entries must be powered by Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors. At first thought, my money is on the folks over at Alienware, but then again, there is this case mod

Google Transit

Google has formed a partnership with select transit authorities to create their latest offering, Google Transit. This new service shows people how to get around by walking and using public transportation. It also offers directions, schedules and estimated travel times. Users type in their origination point, destination and time they want to travel, and the program tells them how to get from one place to the other using the bus system.

Google Transit is currently available in Honolulu, Hawaii, Tampa, Florida, Eugene and Portland, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Seattle, Washington.

Jennifer Hawkins Sydney photoshoot

Why ask just anyone to your school’s formal dance when you can ask out a former Miss Universe? That was what Australian Daniel Dibley thought to himself when he wrote to Miss Universe 2004, Jennifer Hawkins, and asked to her to his school’s dance. To his amazement, she accepted.

Unfortunately Jennifer didn’t go through with it. After news reports and media created a spectacle out of the dance, Jennifer later declined the invitation saying, It just became too big. I just wanted a low-key thing. To make it up to Daniel, she did appear at the school to speak at an assembly where she apologized, as well as had a private lunch date with him.
