There’s something to be said when Old Media starts covering New Media news, especially when that news started out as simply blogger gossip. I suppose the unexpected fiasco at Rocketboom (possibly the most successful video blog ever) could signal the coming of age of the vlog. After all — a medium can’t be truly successful if there aren’t the predictable pulls over money and the ever-present “creative control”.

Long story short, Amanda Congdon, the face and personality behind Rocketboom (not to mention part-time producer, writer and 49% owner) suddenly left was fired from the show on Wednesday. According to Andrew Baron, producer of Rocketboom and Congdon’s former partner, trouble had been brewing for some time. Amanda offers her own take on the subject in her blog, Amanda Unboomed, and a quick message to her loyal fans that she will be back — and soon.
