Weekend Round-up
Permalink | June 26th, 2006* Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gets the techno treatment in this remixed video of his on-stage antics. Developers, developers, developers, developers.
* Hacker Gary McKinnon tells what he found after allegedly breaking into NASA’s computers in search for evidence of UFOs. Conclusion: he saw lo-res photos but couldn’t download the hi-res versions because his connection (56k modem) was too slow — the BS meter is registering high on this one.
* Venice, Italy gets invaded by seaweed. The 3-meter long strands, which are almost impossible to destroy, threaten to clog the city’s famous canals.
* France challenges Google Maps with their own mapping website, Geoportail. They claim higher resolution images than Google Maps and Google Earth — the only problem is that there were so many visitors to the site they had to temporarily take it down.
* The second richest man in the world, Warren Buffett has announced plans to donate the bulk of his $44 billion fortune to the richest man in the world, Bill Gates (well, technically the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation).
