World Cup goes mobile
Permalink | June 7th, 2006The world’s largest sporting event is being leveraged by mobile carriers to get people interested in watching TV on their phones. It is also being seen as a way for those same carriers to test the limits of their networks and see just how well they can cope with the expected demand. Analyst firm Informa predicts that up to $300m in revenue will come from fans downloading and watching clips on mobile phones.
Just remember, though, that not everyone likes the World Cup, or at least that’s what ChannelTwo is banking on.
