Podcast, it’s not just a word
Permalink | December 7th, 2005The term Podcast has been crowned this year’s word of the year by the New Oxford American Dictionary.
Podcasts have grown quickly in popularity over the past 12 months as they are an easy way of getting digital content and playing it when and where you want.
The term was coined by journalist Ben Hammersley and although originally derived from combining “broadcasting” and “iPod”, this definition has become something of a misnomer as podcasts can be listened to on any digital music player.
Audio podcast have undoubtedly taken the world by storm, and it appears as though video podcasts are hot on the heels of their audio counterparts; and Playboy is one company that doesn’t want to be left behind in the revolution. They have recently unveiled the Playboy Bodcast, short videos featuring their luscious ladies.
