Ribcap crash helmet
Permalink | December 5th, 2005A Swiss company known as Ribcap has created a line of beanie hats for snow sports using a new elastomeric compound known as d3o. The compound is a soft and flexible material that instantly stiffens on impact; it is this unique feature that allows Ribcap’s beanies to be pliable yet tough enough to serve as a protective helmet.
The Ribcap fills the gap between people who will just wear a soft beanie and those who want to wear a helmet. As the product literature simply sums it up: “It’s better than a beanie.”
Other products that have incorporated d3o include skate boarding shoes, giant slalom and slalom race suits, and goal keeper gloves.
My only question is, when can I buy a Ribcap from a store in the States, or online?!
