Bush signs an energy bill

After a four-year battle Bush has signed into law a $14.5 billion energy bill which he champions as a first step to strengthen the economy and reduce dependency on foreign oil.

However, critics said it would do little to reduce oil imports, had missed a great opportunity to increase vehicle mileage requirements and amounted to a tax give-away to energy companies.
